Import from Google Authenticator

QR migration scan for TOTP seeds into your vault.

How-to as of September 2026. Google Authenticator migration QR flows can change — follow in-app prompts in both apps.

Before you start

AzAd Vault can import TOTP seeds from Google Authenticator via migration QR on Android, with paste or QR image options in Chrome. Free includes up to 10 TOTP codes; Premium unlocks unlimited TOTP along with unlimited items and labels. Do not remove accounts from Google Authenticator until codes in AzAd Vault match.

Steps

  1. Start transfer in Google Authenticator. Open Google Authenticator, use Transfer accounts / Export, and generate the migration QR for the accounts you want to move.
  2. Open AzAd Vault TOTP migration. On Android (v1.0.36), use the Google Authenticator migration / QR scan flow in AzAd Vault. In Chrome (v1.1.0), use paste or QR image import for authenticator migration where offered.
  3. Scan or import the migration payload. Scan the QR (or provide the image/payload), confirm the list of accounts, and import seeds into your unlocked vault.
  4. Verify codes side by side. For several accounts, confirm AzAd Vault and Google Authenticator show the same code in the same 30-second window before deleting anything.
  5. Backup and finish. Save an encrypted .azvault backup (Free includes backup history and scheduled backups), optionally enable Drive sync, then remove migrated accounts from Google Authenticator if desired.

Tips and limits

Hitting more than 10 TOTP entries requires Premium. Passkeys are separate (Chrome Premium) and Android WebAuthn is not available as of September 2026. No multi-vault for separating school vs personal authenticators. Pair TOTP with password import guides if you are leaving a full password manager at the same time.
