Free vs Premium in plain language
AzAd Vault’s free tier is meant to be a real password manager, not a teaser that locks encryption or sync behind a paywall. On Free you get the same zero-knowledge crypto as Premium: Argon2id-derived keys, AES-256-GCM field encryption, and HMAC-checked .azvault backups. You can enable Google Drive sync, keep backup history, schedule backups, run the security audit, attach encrypted files on every platform, and use Android system autofill — all without paying.
What Free caps are the volume of vault content: up to 500 items, 20 labels, and 10 TOTP authenticator codes. For many households and solo users that is enough to migrate from a browser password store and stay organized. When you outgrow those limits — or you want Chrome passkey create/sign-in, Chrome Archive, or to share Premium with family — you upgrade on Google Play. Premium removes the caps (unlimited items, labels, and TOTP) and unlocks those Chrome-centric Premium features plus family seats.
Importantly, Windows and Chrome do not sell a separate license. You download them free, use the same Free limits, and when you purchase Premium on Android your entitlement follows the Google account you sign in with. How family seats work
Family plans are seat sharing, not a shared vault. The owner buys Family Annual or Family Lifetime on Google Play and invites up to 6 members by email. Each invited person receives Premium entitlement — unlimited items/labels/TOTP and the Premium Chrome features — while keeping a completely private vault. Nobody in the family can open anyone else’s secrets through the sharing feature. That model fits households that want one bill and six private password managers, without pretending that co-owned vaults are a good default for personal credentials.
After members accept, they sign in with their own Google accounts on Android, Windows, or Chrome. Entitlement and encrypted Drive sync follow each person’s account. Owners manage invites from the Family screen on Android. More detail is in the FAQ.
Why Windows and Chrome inherit Premium from Play
The Windows app and Chrome extension are free to install. Free-tier limits match Android: 500 vault items, 20 labels, and 10 TOTP codes. When you hit a limit, the app shows an upgrade screen that points to Google Play.
There is no Windows Store or Chrome Web Store billing. Purchase Premium on Android, then sign in with the same Google account on Windows or Chrome and tap Refresh on the Premium screen. Unlimited items, labels, and TOTP codes unlock on all platforms. This avoids duplicate subscriptions and keeps Google Play as the single source of truth for receipts and family seats.
Billing note
Premium is purchased through Google Play on Android. Prices are displayed in your local currency at checkout. Family entitlement syncs via AzAd’s family API when you sign in with Google — each member gets their own Premium seat and private vault. Windows and Chrome do not require a separate license; sign in with the same Google account to sync your vault and Premium status.
