Import from Bitwarden to AzAd Vault

Plain or encrypted Bitwarden JSON into AzAd Vault.

How-to as of September 2026. Bitwarden export options can change — verify in the Bitwarden web vault or app.

Before you start

AzAd Vault imports Bitwarden JSON on Android and Windows, including encrypted exports. The Chrome extension (v1.1.0) also imports Bitwarden and CSV. Install Android v1.0.36 or Windows v1.0.43 from AzAd Solutions, unlock your vault, and be ready to delete the export file when finished.

Steps

  1. Export Bitwarden JSON. In Bitwarden, create a JSON export. Prefer an encrypted export if you will move the file between machines; you will need the export password during import.
  2. Choose Bitwarden import in AzAd Vault. Open Tools → Import (Android/Windows) or the Chrome import UI and select Bitwarden JSON.
  3. Provide the file (and password if encrypted). Select the JSON, enter the export password when prompted for encrypted files, and start import.
  4. Verify critical items. Open a few logins and TOTP entries. Confirm URLs and usernames look correct before removing Bitwarden data.
  5. Backup and optionally sync. Save an encrypted .azvault backup, securely delete the JSON export, then enable Drive ciphertext sync if you use multiple devices.

Tips and limits

Collections and organization-shared items will not map to AzAd shared folders — we do not offer multi-vault or shared-item collaboration. Free caps are 500 / 20 / 10; Premium unlocks unlimited items, labels, and TOTP plus Chrome passkeys and Archive. Attachments and scheduled backups remain on Free.
