Bitwarden alternative for Android, Windows, and Chrome
Bitwarden is the open-source cloud password manager many security-minded users recommend first. Self-hosting, broad clients, and a large community are real strengths. AzAd Vault from AzAd Solutions is a different bet: a focused commercial zero-knowledge vault for Android, Windows, and Chrome with optional Google Drive ciphertext sync — not an open-source server you operate.
If you want open source and/or self-host Bitwarden (or Vaultwarden), stay there. If you want guided apps, Play-billed Premium that syncs entitlement to desktop and extension, and free-tier limits written in plain language, evaluate AzAd Vault side by side.
What AzAd Vault emphasizes
On-device Argon2id + AES-256-GCM, 15 item templates, built-in TOTP, security audit, and encrypted attachments. Free includes Android autofill, attachments on all platforms, backup history, and scheduled backups within 500 items / 20 labels / 10 TOTP. Premium unlocks unlimited capacity, Chrome passkeys, Chrome Archive, and family seats (up to 6). Apps: Android v1.0.36, Windows v1.0.43, Chrome v1.1.0.
Import from Bitwarden JSON — including encrypted exports — is supported on Android and Windows; the Chrome extension imports Bitwarden and CSV. That path is designed for people leaving Bitwarden without rebuilding every login by hand.
Gaps relative to Bitwarden
AzAd Vault is not open source. There is no self-hosted server, no multi-vault, no priority sync, and no Android WebAuthn as of September 2026. Platform coverage stops at Android, Windows, and Chrome — no iOS, macOS, or Linux clients yet. Organizations that need Bitwarden’s admin console, directory sync, or self-host compliance story should keep Bitwarden.
Personal users who mainly need a trustworthy vault on phone, PC, and browser — with Drive sync they already understand — often prefer a narrower product that ships those three well.
Migration checklist
Export Bitwarden JSON (encrypted if you prefer), install AzAd Vault, import on Android or Windows, unlock and spot-check, then enable optional Drive sync only after you understand recovery. Keep your Bitwarden export offline until you are confident the new vault is complete.
