A passkey is a FIDO/WebAuthn credential: a key pair bound to a website origin. Sign-in proves possession of the private key without typing a reusable password, which improves phishing resistance when implemented correctly.
In AzAd Vault
Passkey create and sign-in are available in the Chrome extension on Premium. Android AzAd Vault does not implement WebAuthn passkey create/sign-in as of September 2026. Passwords and TOTP remain first-class on all platforms.
Adoption tips
Register passkeys on high-value sites, store recovery codes in the vault, and keep a unique password fallback where required. Read passkeys explained.

Discoverable credentials
Some WebAuthn credentials are discoverable (usernameless flows); others require identifiers. Sites choose flows. Users mostly see “create a passkey” buttons. If create fails on Android AzAd Vault, use Chrome Premium or the platform authenticator the site recommends — do not assume every OS surface is identical.
Relationship to passwords in AzAd Vault
Passkeys complement passwords; they do not delete the need for a vault. Many sites remain password-only. Free users manage passwords and TOTP within caps; Premium adds Chrome passkey flows and higher limits. Family seats do not merge passkey rings into one shared vault.
